Heading into the back nine on Sunday, Jonathan trailed Tim Clark by three strokes in the final round of the John Deere Classic. Exceptional driving, sharp irons and a pure putter enabled Jonathan to close out a remarkable final round 66 winning him the tournament, as well as an invitation to the British Open and next year’s Masters, by one stroke.

Jonathan Byrd at the British Open
Coming off his win last week, at the John Deere Classic, Jonathan Byrd was able to pull off a Top 25 Finish at the 136th British Open Championship. During the four rounds of play Jonathan battled through inclement weather and a tough Carnoustie Golf Course posting rounds of 73, 72, 70, and 70 for a total of, a 1 over par, 285.

BackOffice Associates is proud to sponsor Jonathan Byrd, who is currently on the PGA TOUR. His best finish on the PGA TOUR in 2006 was T3rd at the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-AM. He finished 63rd on the Money list for 2006, and ranked 3rd in birdies per round. We would like to wish him all of our support and the best of luck in this 2007 season.
A right-hander from Anderson, South Carolina, Jonathan Currie Byrd now lives with his wife, Amanda, in St. Simons Island, Georgia, and plays out of Sea Island Golf Club. Jonathan graduated from Clemson University with a degree in marketing in 2000 and turned professional that same year, eventually earning his PGA TOUR card in 2002.
He was first introduced to golf, by his father at the age of three. Since then Jonathan has accomplished so much, a list of those accomplishments includes:
- First-team All-American by Golf Coaches Association, 1999
- Third-team All-American by Golf Coaches Association, 2000
- First-team Academic All-American by Golf Coaches Association, 1999 and 2000
- First-team Academic All-American by CoSIDA, 1999
- First-team All-ACC 1997, 98, 99, 00
- First four-time first-team All-ACC Golfer in Clemson history
- Number-two ranked amateur in United States entering Spring 2000
- Clemson University Athlete of the Year in 1998-99
- Amateur Golfer of the Year in South Carolina for 1999
- Member of 1999 United States Walker Cup Team
- Member of United States Palmer Cup team 1999 and 2000. 4-0 record with 1999 team.
