Position Summary

The Application Developer is responsible for developing the BackOffice Data Stewardship Platform and its applications and components. This role involves developing and maintaining high-quality software solutions, from installation methodology through to daily use and maintenance.

This means working with Development Leads, Product Owners, and Quality Engineers to refine, optimize, and test application changes. Our products implement and maintain integration points with internal and external applications that will need updates and fixes. Data analysis, migration, and transformation tasks will be required to understand and support our applications. Additionally, technical assistance to the Customer Support team will grow with product understanding. This position will have moderate supervision, so excellent personal time management skills are required. You will interact regularly with team members, immediate manager, other Applications and SW Developers and Architects.

    • Understanding the user’s scenario and problem to best address and improve, from installation to usage
  • Ability to work closely while remote
    • Comfortable with video and voip calls
    • Clear communication skills to manage while not co-located
    • Excellent chat skills, we use Slack heavily

     

    Primary Responsibilities:

    • Analyzes requirements; designs and implements applications and application modules using established rapid development tools and frameworks
    • Implements/maintains DSP web applications according to requirements
    • Translates requirements into tasks and provides estimates for work complexity and completion
    • Create and maintain SQL Server tables, schemas, objects, and data
    • Debug changes to SQL objects, DSP applications, to continue work and address support reproductions
    • Intermediate .Net / C# programming tasks
    • Works with Product Management and team members to clarify project scope and goals
    • Ensures adherence with BackOffice and industry-defined development standards and best practices
    • Escalates issues to Management when appropriate

     

    Qualifications:

    • BS in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Information Technology/Information Systems (or similar program of study) or equivalent IT-related experience
    • 2-3 years’ Microsoft SQL development experience
    • 1-2 years’ experience with source control systems, Git required; Github a specific plus
    • Familiarity and experience with agile development methodologies
    • Ability to work as part of a highly distributed, global team
    • Excellent communication via tools like Slack and Google Hangouts
