Position Summary

As a Technical Writer at BOA, your primary goal is to meet our product users’ need for information. Your challenge is to create documentation that supports and enhances the user experience for a large, technologically complex product suite with multiple components, including a cloud-based solution. The Technical Writer will create and update product documentation, interpreting technology by producing and formatting user documentation for all software products. This position collaborates with product management, development teams and other key business stakeholders, and requires the ability to quickly assimilate and organize complicated information into simple, clear language. The documentation is published as online, context sensitive help, interactive product tours and walkthroughs, and PDF manuals.

The successful candidate will be a self-starter, with a demonstrated ability to resolve issues independently, but must also collaborate closely with remote team members. Regular, proactive and pertinent communication with colleagues is a must as we are documenting multiple product releases concurrently.

This is a great opportunity for a mid-level Technical Writer to expand their skills in a fast-paced, technically challenging environment.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Create and/or edit user documentation to be released with new versions of software products
  • Ensure all documentation complies with published documentation standards and perform peer reviews
  • Collaborate with Support, Development and Product Management to ensure document content accurately reflects product functionality and provides the end-user with helpful, easy to assimilate information
  • Manage content in online help authoring software to facilitate autonomous and collaborative authoring of documentation
  • Perform ad hoc technical writing, editing and all other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in writing, English, communications, journalism or related area
  • 2+ years of experience in technical writing, specifically documenting software products
  • Expert level experience in MS Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, and help authoring software such as RoboHelp or Flare
  • Ability to acquire in-depth product knowledge quickly through hands-on experience with products and interaction with subject matter experts
  • Ability to demonstrate excellent communication skills, both oral and written and to convert complex technical information into clean, concise, and coherent end-user documentation in plain English
  • Experience with and ability to successfully support multiple concurrent projects
  • Proven experience managing and meeting several simultaneous deadlines
  • Able to work independently as well as with teams in a proactive and productive manner
