One of the largest employers in the United States with over 800,000 employees and pensioners, and annual operating revenues of $73 billion needed to consolidate and migrate their 25 year old legacy HR and Payroll systems to SAP®.
This customer attempted a technical data migration effort with a team of 40 people. Their original approach of using an ETL tool and consolidating the data failed. Through 18 months of effort, only a small portion of the legacy data could be readied and loaded into SAP. Many issues occurred including the scalability of the effort across their operation and the need for validated data loads to meet a regulated environment.
BackOffice Associates® was consulted after this initial attempt and provided a new plan that enabled the customer to completely change their approach. After providing the customer with a one week Data Audit™, the customer could then effectively evaluate the effort required. BackOffice Associates deployed a team of three consultants and worked with the customer using a business focused approach and easy to use tools that allowed the customer to greatly reduce their resources and effectively migrate all of their data and deliver a Boring Go Live® data migration. The BackOffice Associates plan was completed on time and within budget, delivering all employee data as required in SAP to operate with 100% accuracy. Every paycheck was correct and the help desk was very quiet after the SAP go-live.
