A Fortune 5 global Gas & Chemicals Company needed to improve its process for new material data introduction to prevent errors and improve validation and compliance.
After a successful SAP® implementation, based on the BackOffice Associates® tools and methodology for its data migration, this oil and gas giant proudly announced the most successful SAP implementation it had ever experienced in 11 years of implementing SAP.
After six months of operating SAP globally, this customer experienced significant degradation of its data quality in SAP. The users creating new data and maintaining the converted data were experiencing significant delays in creating materials in SAP. The customer was experiencing continuing business process interruptions due to eroding data quality in its SAP system based, on the absence of an Active Data Governance Model™.
Even with a COE (Center of Excellence) model, businesses find it difficult to scale this group once they fully understand the actual data quality needs of SAP from the roles and scenarios required. A minimum of ten different people varying by plant, business unit and geographical region, were required for proper creation of master data.
This company needed a better way to improve its master data quality by coordinating the efforts of the different roles and scenarios required for this data authorship. It wanted an application that would inform the business users of the scenario and the specific data needed to complete the picture. In addition, the application should only ask the “right” questions in regards to each scenario and validate that all required data is entered or already exists in the system.
The company once again partnered with BackOffice Associates and implemented cMat™ which empowered this company to collaboratively author and maintain its material master data.
