Data Governance Lead – UK – Leamington Spa

Position Summary

As a proven Data Governance Lead, you will be expected to lead projects during the requirements gathering, design, development, testing and final go live stages of a project life cycle. The person in this position will have a track record of successfully delivering a variety of full project lifecycles where you have operated in the capacity of Project and/or Technical lead. Hands-on experience is a must, alongside good communication and management skills.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the development and preparation of project plans and schedules
  • Lead and provide accurate estimates
  • Play a pivotal role in RFP submissions, proof of concept work, feasibility studies, internal R&D projects and conferences
  • Provide technical expertise and design to project blueprint activities against agreed standards and policies
  • Complete Unit and Integration Testing of work packages in line with agreed processes ensuring completion within allocated timescales
  • Ensure work packages are delivered on time, to agreed quality standards and budget
  • Lead requirements gathering workshops
  • Experience leading a team of consultants
  • Produce high quality technical documentation including High Level Designs, Low Level Designs, code reviews, configuration guides and development processes
  • Lead daily scrum meetings and support project managers providing key input into project execution
  • Ensure solutions meet necessary performance criteria and comply with application security policies
  • Support the acceptance and deployment of new solutions into production environments
  • Provide 3rd line application support as required, in line with agreed SLA’s and in compliance with the defined support processes
  • A willingness to drive best practice
  • Engage with SAP in partner initiatives
  • Must have an up to date knowledge of the latest SAP technologies



  • Degree in Computer Science, software development or similar qualification
  • Active Data Governance / ETL / Data Quality
  • Experience with development and code promotion methodologies
  • Functional SAP with Material Master, Vendor Master/Customer Master Objects
  • Databases SQL Server, Oracle etc
  • Experienced ABAP Lead with good Object Oriented skills
  • Strong SQL and Data Modelling experience
  • Experience with SAP ABAP on HANA, Knowledge of ABAP CDS and AMDP, a plus
  • Experience with SAP Data Services, a plus
  • Workflow experience (ABAP Workflow, BPM or other governance tools)
  • Architectural experience of designing integration scenarios, by applying standard EAI integration patterns, a plus
  • Proven experience of leading a team of technical consultants
  • Have lead a minimum of 3 full project lifecycles
  • Governance and/or Data Quality expertise
  • SAP expertise with Vendor, Customer, Material + BOM’s
  • Demonstrable experience of leading requirement gathering workshops
  • Experience in providing estimations, RFP’s
  • Willing to learn state-of-the-art new governance tools
  • Experience with different data migration techniques
  • Experience of project delivery methodologies, in particular Agile
  • Experience of Change Management across complex SAP landscapes
  • Experience dealing with 3rd parties
  • Logical, methodical, solutions-orientated person with tenacity and drive
  • Proven ability and aptitude to explore and learn new technologies released by SAP
  • Excellent presentation skills and an ability to communicate complex solutions in simple language to a variety of audiences
  • Strong stakeholder management
  • Essential to have experience of working on multiple concurrent projects
